September is National Coupon Month

Did you know that September is National Coupon Month!

Here are some fun facts: (Thanks, Jill!)

**The first hand-written coupons, for free fountain drinks promoting Coca-Cola, were given out in 1894 (see the cute coupon pictured above).

**Coupons soon spread to local grocery stores eventually becoming their own industry during the late 1950's (We love you Harris Teeter and your triple and doubles!).

**The first National Coupon Month was in 1998--in 2000 the program expanded to help parents teach children about the importance of saving money (Is it time you teach your kids how to save money?)

**In 2008, 89% of consumers used coupons to save money--giving them about $2.3 BILLION in savings! (Are you one of those consumers saving big?)
