Review of Insect Lore Live Butterfly Garden and Giveaway

Review of Insect Lore Live Butterfly Garden and Giveaway

Insect Lore Live Butterfly GardenMy oldest son received one of theInsect Lore Live Butterfly Garden kits for his fourth birthday. We waited until the summer (his birthday is in November) and sent away for our caterpillars. We received 6 caterpillars within a week (all alive).

We followed the directions and enjoyed documenting the amazing transformation that took place.  Food was provided for the caterpillars so all we had to do was watch and wait. The pop up observation tower was easily transportable and very easy for my young boys to see through. It was fascinating to watch all 6 of our caterpillars turn into painted lady butterflies. We checked out books from the library about the life of a caterpillar and kept journals documenting the process.

My two and four year old were mesmerized by the process from caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly--I admit I was too. When the butterflies were strong enough we released them into Mr. T's beautiful garden. For the next few months the boys were convinced that every butterfly they saw was THEIR butterfly. It was magical. This kit provided my children with a wonderful, exciting learning experience that they will never forget!

My children enjoyed the experience so much that I eagerly picked up a few more kits that I found on clearance at Target last fall. I look forward to witnessing this magical process this coming spring/summer all over again.

Amazon has this Live Butterfly Garden marked down to just $14.19 (list price $24.99)! This kit comes with a pop up observation chamber; supplies for feeding the butterflies (you provide only sugar and water); an informative booklet of clear instructions and butterfly facts; and a certificate for three to five free painted lady caterpillars--you do have to pay $3 fee for processing--but it's worth it!

  10. I would love to share this with my 3 and 6 year old daughters. I am homeschooling them and at the first of the year we studied and learned about butterflies. My 6 year old could tell you more details about them than anyone I know. It would be so fun to do this together with her and see it hands on.
