I recently read, "The loss of loved ones almost inevitably brings some regrets to our hearts. Let's minimize such feelings as much as possible by frequently expressing our love and gratitude to them. We never know how soon it will be too late." (Thomas S. Monson) Children grow up so quickly and often our time with them is spent correcting them more than loving them. That is why I'm so grateful my sister, Erin Wilson, sent me this fabulous idea....Every Monday night during our family meeting we present each child with a "Mom and Dad Award" (a laminated certificate so we can erase and fill in something good they did each week). We call them up individually and present them with the award then we clap and cheer saying, "Hip, Hip, Hooray we are so glad you're in our family today!" It only takes 5 minutes but they seem to float on air the rest of the night! Even if you don't have a certificate a gold star goes a long way at any age!
