About Brooke:
I grew up a Navy Brat, but now call Virginia my home. I've lived in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Florida, Japan, Utah and Nevada. I spent most of that time living on the outskirts of Tokyo, Japan. I returned to the good old USA to attend college (that's how I ended up living in Utah) and received my bachelors degree in elementary education. During this time I met a farm boy and fell in love. That's why we love living in Northern Virginia. We get the best of both worlds living here. If you drive a few miles in one direction from our home you'll end up in DC and if you drive a few miles in the other direction you end up in the Shenandoah Mountains. How sweet is that?I taught the 4th and 5th grades for many years. I loved teaching! When my oldest child was born, in the fall of 2005, I decided to quit teaching and become a stay at home mom. It was around this time that I started dabbling in coupons. What started out as a coupon clipped here and a coupon clipped there turned into what I like to jokingly refer to as my coupon addiction. I do not have a monthly budget, but I do not like paying for things that can be found for less or better yet FREE. My children have been raised on coupon shopping. I really think that they are under the assumption that if you do not have a coupon you cannot buy the product.
When I’m not teaching (we're now a homeschooling family), blogging, or picking up after my three little ones I love to read, travel with my family, throw parties, and watch reality TV when no one is looking.
About Heather:
I am Heather. I am a wife to Garth, a mother to five children (Sommer-14, Calvin-12, Ethan-10, Tate-7 and Ashton-6), a runner, a piano teacher, couponer and reality tv junkie (I love Survivor and Amazing Race the best!). I love to dabble in many other things such as reading, cooking, decorating, lunching, traveling, movie going and being outdoors (this must come from growing up in Alaska). I would like to think I am someone who is not "super" at any one thing but "pretty good" at many things. I do my best at trying new things, maintaining the skills I have and sharing what I love with others. I can't sit still for long (at least not until about 9 pm when I crawl into bed and stare at the ceiling with my eyes swirling and whirling...). My husband likes to say I have "clocked out." It's true.
I am most grateful for my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (known as the Mormons to most people :), where I have learned my purpose here on earth and have the opportunity to continually serve (which brings me the greatest joy!).
I love people! Sharing our "Secrets to Saving" has been a blast! I love meeting so many of you as we teach our classes and share ideas! I hope to meet you soon!
Heather and Brooke
We love our families. We love our friends. And we love the thrill of a good deal. We're avid deal seekers. If there's a deal to be found or a dollar to be saved we'll find it and we'll save it. By learning how to cut costs on our basic needs, we have found the key to having more disposable income for the more enjoyable things in life.
Would you like to come to one of our extreme couponing classes? We have more than 20 years of teaching experience between us. We love to share our knowledge with others. We are currently in the process of scheduling dates to speak at church groups, mom’s clubs, and community centers. To find out more, or to schedule a teaching seminar near you, contact us at hiptoclip@gmail.com.
