Did You Know That Thanskgiving Dinner Costs More in 2010 than in 2009?

It's true! According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, the cost of a complete Thanksgiving dinner -- complete with a turkey, pumpkin pie, cranberries, and stuffing, is up by 1.3 percent from last year.

Last year, the cost of a Thanksgiving dinner for 10 people was $42.91. This year, the cost is 56-cents higher at $43.47.

The American Farm Bureau Federation's Thanksgiving meal accounts for: turkey, bread stuffing, sweet potatoes, rolls with butter, peas, cranberries, a relish tray of carrots and celery, pumpkin pie with whipped cream, and beverages of coffee and milk. The quantities measured are enough to feed a group of 10 with plenty of leftovers.

This year, the price of turkeys is actually down. A 16-pound turkey costs $17.66, which is lower than last year by 99cents. According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, turkeys should be the focal point of supermarket deals this season, so keep watch for special sales and promotions that you may not typically see.
