Are You Using Ebates? YOU SHOULD BE!

I just joined Ebates! I know, it's been around f-o-r-e-v-e-r, but I just never took the time to look into it. Well today looking into it saved me $42! Yes $42! I've been looking for new chairs for my family room and found some today at JCPenney. The chairs were marked from $799.00 down to $239.00! SWEET! Well shipping kind of stunk. . . $214!!! YIKES! That's almost the price of one of the chairs. After calling JCPenney and politely asking them why their shipping was double what I would pay in the store I got no answer--go figure. I did find out, after calling my closest JCPenney store that carries furniture, that the online deal was the best deal I was going to find--even with that ridiculous shipping charge! Dorothy actually tried all possible scenarios, but the online deal was best. Bless you, Dorothy! Anyway, once I knew I NEEDED those chairs I went hunting for a coupon code. The best I could find took $20 off my total. Then I looked at Shop at Home and Ebates. Shop at Home would give me 3% cash back for my purchase total and Ebates would give me 6% cash back. That saved me an additional $42. I was up to $62 off my original price. That made the shipping only $53 higher than I would have paid at the store. I was a little better with that. Not thrilled, by any means, but better.

I went through Ebates and purchased the chairs. They should be here around Christmas. We'll see how they work out. The last two times JCPenney delivered furniture to my home they ended up refunding my shipping charges. Those are long stories, but I'll tell you that once the shipment didn't arrive until 9:45 pm! The packers didn't leave until 11 pm! You can see why they refunded my money on that account. Here's hoping they arrive late again. :)

Anyway, I digress, the point of this post was Ebates. For those who do not know what Ebates is, it is a web site portal that links you to all the popular online shopping web sites....all the biggies are on there - Apple, JC Penney, Sephora, Best Buy, Half.com, Overstock.com, Ebay, Walmart, Staples, Target, most of the major airlines, etc. etc. etc. The list goes on for miles. When you access any of these companies' web sites via Ebates' web site and make an on-line purchase, a percentage of your purchase is refunded back to you in the form of a cash rebate. It's really silly to shop on-line without using Ebates. Don't ask me why I haven't joined until today. If you are going to make an on-line purchase, you might as well get a rebate for it. There are no costs or fees to join and no paperwork to complete. The only thing you have to do is make sure (when you shop online) to access the store you are interested in via Ebates' web site first so that you will get the rebate.
